A God-centered approach for the education of our youth for the next generation
We have a vision of our children stepping into their adulthood grounded in the Word of God, secure in their convictions with an unshakable faith that will weather the storms of life and will not yield to the "spirit of the age". Why should you as a parent, consider having your child participate in Children Desiring God Sunday School this fall? Here are seven (7) reasons why...
The curriculum is God-centered: The Bible is a book about God! In every lesson the CDG material revolves around the question, “What does this say about God?”
The curriculum partnerships with Parents: We believe that the responsibility rests with the parents, foremost with the father, to teach and spiritually nuture their children. This curriculum is designed by Bethlehem Baptist and taught by us at TCC to “walk along side” parents. The material equips the parents with much-needed instruction on how to train your children in the knowledge of God. Each year the number of home school users increase. This is a great tool to teach and disciple children in the Person and work of Jesus Christ.
Depth of the program: Children can learn deep truths about God. These deep truths will take them through “deep” experiences of life as they grow older. They are taught that the Bible is the source of revelation about God and they use the Bible extensively. Memorization is a very important part of this program. The translation that is used for memorization is the NIV.
Incremental: Children, like adults, learn incrementally with precept upon precept. Truth on a simple level is introduced to a child and reintroduced as they grow older-digging deeper into that understanding as they develop in ability.
Application of the material: Hearing the Word of God is important (Romans 10:17). However, teaching falls short if we emphasize words to the exclusion of biblical illustrations that connect truths proclaimed and truths lived out. Teachers are encouraged to interact with students and pray that God will drive home the teachings that are being presented. Memorizing Scripture is a very important part of CDG.
Theology: The theological foundation of CDG is Reformed. While developed by Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, it is Reformed in its fundamental principles.
Long-term affect: Testimony after testimony has been given on how Sunday School has greatly affected a person's life. The success of any Sunday School program lies with the church's success in envisioning its people on the importance of children being taught the Word of God, beginning at an early age.
